FRENCH RESTAURANT -I have a thing for French food and dinner out at Meritage is always a treat. Reservations are suggested for the bar and dinning room as this place is popular. I hear it’s the favorite spot to hit before going to a show. This was our first visit back to Meritage since Covid and it didn’t disappoint.
VERDICT I shall return! We have already thought about what we will try on our next visit.
THE OYSTERS
Sometimes I forget that the camera eats first. Meritage is the place to go if you need an oyster fix. These little gems are Valley Pearls and Mookie Blues from the East Coast. East Coast oysters tend to be petite and salty. Just the way I like them. These were really good.
THE COCKTAILS
A glass of Champange or a Dirty Martini? Such problems. A glass of Drappier Brut Champange was the winner for me and it went perfect with the oysters. My hubby ordered Henry McKenna 10yr which in his opinion, goes great with anything. The bar offers a variety of spirits, craft cocktails, beer and there is a nice wine list.
THE MENU
There are so many tempting things to try at Meritage and the menu has creative catagories such as Amusements, Introductions and Main Characters. We couldn’t decide if we should dabble in the small bites and appetizers or go for an entree. We each ordered a small bite, a main dish and shared a desert
The Braised Oxtail Strudel was a little bite of heaven packed with flavor. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of this culinery masterpiece.
The Cassoulet was a nice rustic dish with plenty of sausage and ham. The duck confite was a little salty but nice and tender.
The Wild Boar Pot Pie was good and it had a scoop of fancy sour cream on top. This paired well with a glass of Boudeaux.
C’est si bon!
